Adaptive Phased-Array Antenna

Continuing our proud tradition of innovation, Rincon has developed an elegant solution to the problem of co-channel interference in the Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band. Our adaptive phased-array antenna is a phased-array aperture that digitally adapts the antenna beam to continuously cancel out interfering signals near a signal of interest.

The array consists of 16 antenna blades that cover a full 120 degrees horizontally. Each of the 16 blades consists of four Vivaldi-slotted antennas manufactured on printed circuit boards. The digital beam-forming and adaptation algorithms are hosted on the Rincon FPGA-based DSPBrik. The phased-array design is also adaptable to interference cancellation in other frequency bands.

DSPBrik™

The DSPBrik is a single, compact processor that can be operated autonomously on a remote mountaintop or a remotely-piloted vehicle, incorporated into a high-performance processing array, or used as a stand-alone, inexpensive digital signal processor.

The DSPBrik is based on field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology. Faster than conventional RISC-based processing and less expensive than ASIC technology. FPGAs sprovide an intermediate path right sized for serious DSP applications that have outgrown desktop computing.
